American Space Leipzig was founded in 2013 by the late Professor of Culture and History at Leipzig University American Studies Institute, Prof. Crister S. Garrett. This institutionalization of American values and learning came as a natural consequence of its close ties to Leipzig University. This annual lecture will celebrate Crister S. Garrett's life and achievements.
The first memorial lecture will be held by Dr. Steven S. Sokol, President of the American Council on Germany since 2015. Consul General John Crosby will hold opening remarks. Additionally, we wish to continue in Professor Garrett’s spirit by awarding the CSG Scholarship to a new cohort.
Deutsch-Amerikanisches Institut Sachsen in cooperation with Leipzig University Library. Supported by Fulbright Germany and the US Consulate in Leipzig.
