The Leipzig University Library has a manuscript of the Gospel of Mark probably from the 7th century. Its numerous fragments belonged to a papyrus codex that was written in Coptic in Egypt. In 2008 the remains of this very old gospel book were discovered and identified in the Leipzig collection. It has been researched intensively since then. The result: This Mark is a special testimony to the older Coptic tradition.
The lecture will bring to light what makes the Leipzig Coptic Gospel of Mark so special.
