News from around the world: UBL licences Newsbank

Since January 2024, Leipzig University Library has offered all users access to the Newsbank platform. More than 7,000 daily newspapers from all over the world are presented on this platform with current local, national and global information on all areas of interest. Archives are also offered to varying degrees, so that you can browse through the news from yesterday, the day before yesterday or last year.

You can access the platform via the campus network and remotely via VPN. News can be read, listened to and downloaded in full text (HTML, PDF).

There are various search options (e.g. geographical or thematic) that lead to a wide range of interesting content.

Newsbank offers a complete overview of the newspapers it contains. However, all the journals listed on the platform can also be found in the UBL catalogue.

Newsbank is therefore an excellent addition to the PressReader platform, which has been available for many years and also provides daily newspapers from all over the world in their original layout – for research and teaching as well as for leisurely reading in between.
