On 27 January 2026, the LUL catalogue went online with a new design and new features. The catalogue continues to be based on the open source discovery system VuFind, which the LUL has been successfully operating for itself and for the finc user community for over a decade and in whose international developer community it is actively involved.
The new features include:
- Better use of screen space: The design makes better use of screen space regardless of the device, making searches clearer.
- Grouping of search results: Similar search results (author, title, year of publication) are now grouped by default to make the results list clearer. The grouping can be controlled using the ‘Group different editions on/off’ switch.
- Dark mode now available: A dark mode is now also available for eye-friendly searching at night.
