RDM-practical course: Research data publishing with Zenodo – global visibility and FAIR

Content

This workshop covers the basics of publishing research data using real-world examples. We will guide you through the practical process of publishing your research data in a test environment on Zenodo, an interdisciplinary research data repository. Zenodo is operated by the large-scale research organisation CERN and hosted in Switzerland. Researchers can publish their data there free of charge, easily, independently and in a sustainable manner.

In this course, we will cover the following points relevant to submitting data:

  • Metadata fields (minimum requirements, standardisation, classification)
  • What makes the data in Zenodo FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable)?
  • Copyright and licensing
  • Linking from Zenodo to GitHub, Dryad and to publications (publisher websites, the University Library’s publication server)
  • Open access, Restricted access
  • Handling data subject to data protection regulations
  • Optional, voluntary review of the submitted data
