Sixth Papyrus Curatorial and Conservation Meeting

The Papyrus meeting has been postponed from 2021 to 2022 due to the Corona pandemic. New date 2324. June 2022.

The two-day symposium is open to museum professionals and scholars working in the field of conservation and the curation of papyrus collections.

Participation is free of charge. Places are limited.

In addition to the exciting lecture series, the programme includes behind-the-scenes access to highlights from the papyrus collections of the Leipzig University Library.

Dear Colleagues,

The University Library Leipzig is delighted to host the Sixth Papyrus Curatorial and Conservation Meeting.

The two-day meeting will take place on 23–24 June 2022 at the University Library Leipzig, Beethovenstr. 6, 04107 Leipzig, Germany.

We are now inviting proposals for individual papers of 20 minutes or short communications of 10 minutes on subjects related to:

  • Cataloguing
  • Conservation and Preservation
  • Digitisation and Access
  • Funding Opportunities
  • Ongoing and Completed Projects
  • Research

Submissions should include a title, summary (max 100 words) and bio (max 50 words).

Please submit your proposals by email to by 15 March 2022.

Successful submissions will be announced as soon as possible with a full programme to follow. A highlight of the meeting will be the presentation of the Coptic Gospel of Markus/Markusevangelium.
