Saxonica

As part of a collaboration with the Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB), the digitization of 19th-century “Saxonica” from Leipzig University Library’s holdings began in 2024. Publications of all media types and fields of knowledge relating to Saxony are being digitized. The prints, most of which are in German, are monographs and small publications covering a wide range of subjects, from history, geography, local and regional studies, and linguistics to balneology (the study of therapeutic uses of baths) and law.

The project, which is funded by the Saxon State Digitization Program aims to supplement the SLUB’s extensive Saxonica collection, which has been digitized since the late 2000s.
In 2024, around 300 Saxonica from the 19th century with a total volume of 60,000 pages have been digitizted.
